Legislation service
Fisheries legislation
The Information Centre provides a service for those who wish to keep abreast of new fisheries legislation.
The service supplies printed copies of bills, acts, regulations, SOPs, Gazette notices (including TAC, TACC and catch limit announcements or adjustments), and some court cases and any other legislation impacting on the New Zealand commercial fishing and seafood industries. Subjects covered include:
- All legislation related to New Zealand commercial fishing
- Aquaculture and marine management
- Taiapure / Mâori customary fishing
- Marine reserves
- New Zealand Seafood Industry Council and industry legislation (levy notices)
- Summaries of major court cases
Subscribers receive a regular email update, notifying them of newly-passed fisheries legislation. Some important legislation will be made available in electronic format, to inform subscribers of major announcements (eg adjustments to the TACCs for stocks). The service also alerts subscribers to non-fisheries legislation that is potentially relevant to their business, including:
- Resource Management legislation
- Employment legislation
- ACC legislation
- Maritime legislation
- Animal products legislation
- Food safety legislation
Legal resources
The Information Centre holds legal resources and can provide legal information (but not legal advice) in electronic format. This information includes copies of all Acts and Regulations, and is a service available to all levypayers at an annual cost of $135.00 (GST incl.)
Subscribers must also pay for the actual legislation they have received during the year. This amount may vary but is usually around $150 per year.
If you or your company would like to take advantage of this service, contact the Information Centre.
