Where can I find fishing industry-related images?
Kingfish

We have several suggestions but it depends what the picture will be used for and what image quality you require.

The New Zealand Seafood Industry Council owns a photo database. If you would like to search this please contact the Information Centre.

There are images on the FishBase website which are reproduced from the Guidebook to New Zealand Commercial Fish Species. The Seafood Industry Council is happy for people to use these images for non-commercial purposes, as long as the Council is credited in the publication. For images not supplied by the Council you will need to contact the appropriate organisationf or their permission to use the image.

The following websites have been useful in providing pictures of fish and other sea creatures. Please be aware there may be copyright restrictions on some of these images as noted on the sites:

National Marine Fisheries Services Historic Image Collection from the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration, US Department of Commerce (NOAA)

Image databases at the Marine Biological Laboratory, Woods Hole, Massachusetts

University of Washington Libraries Digital Collections
The Freshwater and Marine Image Bank is an ongoing digital collection of images related to freshwater and marine topics, in all their diversity. It includes images of fish, shellfish, and marine mammals, pictures of fish hatcheries and dams and vessels, materials related to polar exploration, regional and traditional fisheries, and limnological (freshwater) subjects. Its scope is global.

Or ... a fast way to get electronic pictures of fish (or anything else) - use the Google "images" option.
